Defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley has today been ruled out due to injury and Taylor Regan will come in to replace him.
The Newcastle Jets have today ruled out defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley due to a hamstring injury, and bring Taylor Regan in to fill his spot.
Topor-Stanley played out the game last Saturday against the Central Coast Mariners in some discomfort and had scans early this week.
Gary van Egmond decided to rule him out early to settle the team as they prepare to host Sydney FC at Ausgrid Stadium this Saturday.
“Nikolai won-t play this weekend, he has some tendonitis in his hamstring and he will be replaced by Taylor,” van Egmond said after training on Wednesday.
“Nikolai has been playing well and he has been the backbone for some time for the team but it gives an opportunity to Taylor.
“Taylor has been playing extremely well, so we aren-t losing anything with him coming in.”
The coach also suggested there could be a change to the starting eleven in the front third.
“I am leaning towards Franny (Jeffers) up front at home,” van Egmond said.
“Labinot (Haliti) has been leading the line well, he has been working hard but I want to have more of a threat and when Francis came on against the Mariners he made some good runs and being at home I feel Francis can give us that this week.”
