Skills Program

Program Overview

The program is a specialised, weekly program, running each school term, aimed at developing the skills of young footballers under the guidance of Newcastle Jets-trained coaches.

It’s open to all players, no matter their playing experience or skill level.

Open to kids aged 6 – 12, the Newcastle Jets Skills Program will see your child spend time with Newcastle Jets trained coaches each week, improving their football skills and confidence in a controlled and comfortable environment.

Program Structure

  • 8 consecutive weeks of high-quality coaching
  • A full Newcastle Jets Skills Program kit – New Balance branded, including a shirt, shorts, socks and a spray jacket (for first term registration)
  • Opportunity to be identified for the Pre-Academy program

The program is open for kids aged 6 – 12 (turning 6 – 12 in 2026), and is open to all genders and abilities, who will train together throughout the entirety of the program. Players will be grouped based on their age and ability.

Who is this program suitable for?

The Skills Program is aimed at players currently participating at a local football club, who are looking for an additional session each week to fine tune their skills, increase their confidence and decision making.

Does my child need to be experienced in football?

No. The program is developed for all abilities

What skills will my child learn?

Sessions will focus on core skill each week – including the following: First touch and ball control, dribbling and 1v1 skills, Passing/Receiving and Shooting.

Who runs the sessions?

All sessions are delivered by Newcastle Jets Community Coaches. Sessions plans are developed by the Club.

What does my child need to bring?

Football Boots, Shin Pads, Water Bottle and a willingness to train

Can parents stay and watch?

Absolutely. Parents (& siblings) are welcome to stay and support from the sidelines

Can we pay in instalments?

No. Payment must be made with a registration, before participating in the program.
