Newcastle Jets wishes to provide an update concerning the situation in regards to COVID-19, as well as our upcoming Hyundai A-League Round 24 fixture with Wellington Phoenix.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) today confirmed that the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 regular season will go ahead, but with all matches to be played behind closed doors and with no fans permitted to attend.
The decision by the Federal Government that all travellers to Australia arriving from today will have to self-isolate for a period of 14 days means that matches involving Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix will not proceed in Rounds 24 and 25 of the Hyundai A-League.
These measures mean that our Hyundai A-League Round 24 fixture against Wellington Phoenix scheduled for Sunday 22 March will be postponed, to be played at a later date.
As a Club, we are currently preparing for what is an unprecedented situation. Due to the ongoing changes to the COVID-19 issue, it is a fluid situation but we are working hard on solutions for our Members.
All of us at the Newcastle Jets are focused on understanding and addressing the impact on players, staff and importantly our loyal Members and fans. We appreciate your patience at this time.
We will provide our Members and fans with updates as they are available.
Stay safe, wash your hands, look after yourself and your loved ones.
