David Lowe discusses the Jets big home game against Harry Kewell’s Melbourne Victory this Saturday night.

Round 9 of the A-League marks the end of the first third of the season and brings about the much anticipated visit of Harry Kewell and the Melbourne Victory to Ausgrid Stadium.

The Victory have scarcely been out of the headlines since the signing of Kewell was announced and the publicity around the Club has intensified in recent weeks.

While it’s probably fair to say the Victory haven’t been in sparkling form, the team has lost just once in 8 league matches, hardly the stuff of nightmares, and have shown themselves to be very dangerous on occasions.

That is not surprising given the quality of attacking players at the disposal of debutant coach Mehmet Durakovic. A roster containing the names Kewell, Thompson, Hernandez, Rojas, Solorzano, just to mention a few would be the envy of most A-League managers. The task for Durakovic would seem to be finding a balanced side to play around his match winners.

The Jets have been very effective at home and will be boosted by their first point on the road for quite sometime, which was well earned at Adelaide’s Hindmarsh Stadium last Friday .

The players will relish the big occasion, and big atmosphere on Saturday night and will be very keen to grab three points and leapfrog the Victory into a top four position.

A good performance, three points and the birth of Brazilian defender Tiago’s second child on Thursday morning, might well be reason enough for a mini celebration post match.

It’s a game you don’t want to miss!
