Gary van Egmond is happy with how the players responded at training today.
The Newcastle Jets resumed training today after Saturday-s 2-nil loss to the Central Coast Mariners and despite being disappointed with the weekend-s result, coach Gary van Egmond is happy with how the players responded at training.
“We were disappointed with the game, result and performance but we have to keep moving on,” van Egmond said.
“You take solace out of what they have been doing on the training pitch and it is just a matter of time before we start turning our away form around.
“It was nice to see how well the players responded at training today.”
The Jets loss during the ‘F3 Derby’ is a small road bump in what has been an impressive month for the Novocastrians, which saw the team challenge reigning premiers Brisbane Roar, secure their first away game point of the season with a draw against Adelaide United and comfortably beating Melbourne Victory 3-1.
“I really thought we were on the right track coming in to the Mariners game and we knew it was going to be a difficult one but unfortunately we weren-t right on the day,” the coach explained.
“We need to keep building on our performances, starting with our home game against Sydney FC this weekend and for us that is going to be paramount over the next three to four weeks.”
