The Newcastle Jets are excited to announce that Lillia Rae has signed a scholarship contract with the Club
The 17-year-old full-back spent several years developing through the Central Coast Mariners academy, before making the switch to Newcastle at the beginning of 2026. She impressed for the Youth Team, scoring four goals in 24 games enroute to the Grand Final.
Lillia is excited to be signing her first professional contract,
“I’m extremely proud and grateful to have the opportunity to represent my hometown and play for the Newcastle Jets. Being from Newcastle makes this opportunity even more special, and I couldn’t be happier to be representing my home team. Working with Steve throughout this year has already helped me grow so much as a player, and I’m grateful for everything he has taught me so far. Being part of this group and having the chance to learn
from experienced players who I’ve always looked up to is something I really value. I’m excited to keep developing, work hard for the team and make the most of this opportunity.”
A-League Women’s Head Coach Stephen Hoyle said this,
“Lilia has had a strong season in our academy and possesses many of the qualities required of a modern fullback. She’s clever with her positioning both in and out of possession, contributes well going forward and has the work rate to continually get up and down the pitch.”
