Current Form:
The Mariners come into the fixture with just one competitive match under new Head Coach John Hutchinson, a penalty shoot-out defeat to NPL NSW side Sydney United 58 back in July. The Jets come in off the back of a Tuesday night defeat to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Elite, where they performed well for a large portion of the game, but were eventually overran by the reigning ACL2 Champions.
Key Match-Up:
Nikos Vergos vs Andrew Redmayne
New signing Nikos Vergos has been in amongst the goals so far this season, scoring in the Australia Cup against Preston Lions, as well as netting the opener against Gamba Osaka on Tuesday night. The former Melbourne Victory front-man scored in his last clash against the Mariners, in what was a 4-1 win for Victory.
Andrew Redmayne was the best performer for the Mariners last season, keeping them in several games due to his shot-stopping ability. “The Grey Wiggle” kept six clean sheets last season, also winning the Mariners Player of the Season award.
