Our A-League Women’s side take off for 2026/27 by hosting Perth Glory at Hunter City Motor Group Sportsground
Last Time Out:
Perth Glory edged the result, scoring in the 85th minute to seal a 3-2 win at Number 2 Sportsground. Emma Dundas opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Hoban’s strike ricochet off the post before falling to Dundas, who touched the ball forward before finding a gap at the near post, slotting the ball into the back of the net. Hollar equalised for Glory, pouncing on a rogue back-pass before lobbing Ritchie. Melina Ayres gave Newcastle the lead, scoring a stunning scissor-kick which cannoned into the bottom corner. Glory again equalised just minutes later following a nice passing display down the Jets left side. Glory finally took the lead late on, as McKenna’s strike beat Ritchie, giving Glory the win.
Key Match-Up:
Allie Thornton vs Baxter Thew
Allie Thornton will look to wreak havoc on the Glory backline with her clinical finishing ability, as well as with her hold-up play and ability to bring teammates into the game. Thew, who had a solid debut campaign with the Mariners last season, will have to be at the top of her game to deal with Thornton.
