A late goal from Matildas superstar Cortnee Vine has seen Sydney FC snatch all three points in a close contest at No.2 Sportsground on Sunday afternoon.
Sydney FC looked to have taken the lead in the 12th minute when Fiona Worts had the ball in the back of the net however the referee ruled a foul against debutant Maddie Caspers in the build-up.
The visitors continued to threaten and almost found the opener when Aideen Keane found space down the right and flashed a shot wide of the Jets goal in the 26th minute.
Sydney FC had a big chance to start the second-half when Worts was played in behind the Jets defence. Natasha Prior made a huge last-ditch tackle to deny the visitors the chance to shoot.
Worst was gifted another chance in the 63rd minute when a missplaced backpass was pounced upon. Jets goalkeeper Izzy Nino made a big one-on-one save to deny the Sydney FC striker.
Izzy Nino continued to show her class when the USA import denied her compatriot Shea Connors from close range to keep scores level in the 69th minute.
Only a minute later Connors almost found the breakthrough when the striker hit the crossbar.
The visitors took the lead in the 83rd minute when Princess Ibini collected a loose pass to roll the ball across goal for Matildas representative Cortnee Vine to tap in at the back post.
The Jets tried to find a way back into the contest but the visitors held firm to come away with the three points.
The Jets next find themselves in action at No.2 Sportsground on Sunday the 17th December when they take on Western United. Kick-off is at 5pm.
