The Jets head to Japan to face Kyoto Sanga in their third match of the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite
Kyoto Sanga FC is the third Japanese team in a row for the Newcastle Jets, having suffered defeat against Kashima Antlers and Gamba Osaka.
The Opposition:
Kyoto Sanga enter the match with two draws and two losses in their last four J.League matches, with their last win in all competitions coming against Thai side Ratchaburi F.C in their previous AFC Champions League Elite fixture.
Brazilian forward Rafael Elias leads Kyoto in both goals and assists, having scored five and assisted a further three in his eleven appearances across all competitions. Elias scored 18 goals in the 2025 J.League season, leading Kyoto Sanga in scoring.
Squad News:
The Jets face a quick turnaround from their previous fixture, a Saturday afternoon clash against Macarthur FC. Mark Milligan is likely to make several changes to his squad. The first of which is Alex Badolato, who has remained in Australia following his recent comeback from a long-term ACL injury.
