Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce Angus Thurgate has extended his contract with the Club for an additional two seasons.
A Port Macquarie product, Thurgate joined the Jets’ Academy system as a teenager and cut his teeth in the Jets’ NPL Northern NSW and National Youth League sides before making the step up to the A-League where he debuted for the Club in 2018.
Thurgate said; “It’s a great to sign another contract with Newcastle.
“Everyone at the Club and the supporters have been really good to me, so it’s good to get another two years in Newcastle.

“I can’t wait to get going again, keep playing well and take my game to the next level.”
The new deal will see the 21-year-old remain with the Jets for at least the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons.
Having spent time with the Olyroos, the midfielder is only scratching the surface.
With a wealth of untapped potential, Jets Football Manager, Joel Griffiths is confident Thurgate will continue to develop and evolve his game.

“Angus has shown great loyalty with many clubs showing a lot of interest in securing his services,” Griffiths said.
“Angus has matured as a footballer but is yet to get anywhere near his ceiling. With so much room for growth, it’s exciting for us as a Club and him as a player.
“He has all the tools he needs to be a leading midfielder in this competition.”
