Opening rounds of 2021/22 season announced

The opening six games of the A-League season, and first four of the W-League season have been released with start dates for both competitions moved back with the anticipation of crowds returning to stadiums.

The released fixtures sees us opening the season with a huge F3 Derby at home, enjoying two double headers, as well as a Christmas Eve bout.

Our Newcastle Jets men will kick-off their season on Sunday 21 November against the Central Coast Mariners at McDonald Jones Stadium, and will receive three home games in 2021.

Our women will begin their season on Saturday 4 December as part of two double headers. The first will be against Sydney FC away from home, whilst their first match in front of a home crowd will come a week later against Wellington Phoenix.

While both of our squads will be pushing for success in their respective leagues, this season also features the inaugural Club Championship, a trophy awarded to the clubs with the most success across both the men’s and women’s leagues.

The opening rounds will be based on a conference system with our teams facing off with the other four NSW-based clubs, plus both of Wellington Phoenix’s teams, while the majority of the other games will be played in Victoria.

Details surrounding the following fixtures will be released later in the year.

With the season start dates having been adjusted to reflect the evolving landscape of COVID-19 restrictions, the club football season will finish with the men’s Grand Final scheduled for May 28.
