Apostolos Stamatelopoulos put Sydney up early in the second half, before an Eli Adams equaliser levelled the scores.

The hosts had the first real chance of the match when a corner was met at the back post by Captain Rhyan Grant who saw his header hit the post and then cleared off the line from Jets striker Ben Gibson.
As the Jets settled into the contest, a corner in the 33rd minute was not properly dealt with by Sydney FC forcing goalkeeper Harrison Devenish-Meares to dive onto a loose ball.
Sydney FC thought they had a shout for a penalty just moments later when Eli Adams looked to have made contact with Tiago Quintal in the box however, it was waved away by the referee.

However, Sydney’s lead was short lived, as Eli Adams slotted home to equalise. Clayton Taylor burst through the Sydney defence, before sliding a ball across the box to Adams, who lifted his shot over Devenish-Meares and into the back of the net.
Stamatelopoulos came close to putting the Sky Blues back ahead. The striker sized up Mark Natta, before cutting onto his right and firing towards the goal, with the ball narrowly whisking past the outside of the post and out for a corner. Courtney-Perkins also came close to giving Sydney the lead, with his flicked header from a corner striking the crossbar.
