Over the weekend, Newcastle Jets captain Max Burgess helped out two stranded Newcastle Knights fans enroute to the NRL preliminary final
Ross, from Clarence Town, departed his house at 8am in the morning on Sunday with the intention of heading Sydney to watch the Newcastle Knights preliminary final against the Penrith Panthers. By 1pm, all hope seemed lost as he was stuck at Morisset train station due to a broken down freight train blocking the tracks. He ventured away from the station to get food, before deciding to head back to the station to catch a train back home, convinced that he wasn’t going to make the game.
It was at that moment that Max Burgess, who was recently named as the Newcastle Jets captain, pulled over and offered Ross and his friend a lift to the game. Max had been training that morning, before jumping in the car with his friend Louie to head to Sydney to catch the game.
Max and Ross drove to Granville, where they boarded the train together to head to Accor stadium, where they arrived shortly after kick-off. Ross shared the fantastic story via Facebook on Wednesday morning, thanking Max for his help on Sunday afternoon.
