Angus Thurgate marked his 50th A-League game by scoring the winner as the Newcastle Jets continued their resurgence with a 1-0 triumph against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park.
Thurgate delivered the killer blow in the 72nd minute after a smart cut-back from Valentino Yuel as head coach Craig Deans celebrated his first three-point haul since taking over the Hunter outfit on a permanent basis earlier this month.

6′ FOUL: Najjarine pushed in the back. We set up at the top of the box but Victory shut down the Najjarine cross.
4′ OFFSIDE: Boogaard gives it to Yuel who pushes the ball wide of the net but is called off-side.
3′ FOUL: Topor-Stanley is tripped and we waste little time continuing to apply pressure. Millar with the cross and we secure a corner.
1′ CHANCE: Nice passage early from Thurgate and Yuel.
