CELTIC TO BATTLE CENTRAL COAST MARINERS ON JULY 2 IN SYDNEY
The 42-time Scottish champions Celtic Football Club will be playing Central Coast Mariners at ANZ Stadium at 7.30pm on Saturday July 2, 2011.
The game, organised by Tribal Sports Management, is part of the Celtic tour of Australia, which will also feature games against Perth Glory on July 9 in Perth and Melbourne Victory on July 13 in Melbourne.
Mr Lou Sticca of Tribal Sports Management, said “We are expecting a passionate and loud crowd at ANZ Stadium as Celtic FC has never played in Sydney before.
“As an incentive for all of the family to come to the game, kids under 16 years of age accompanied by an adult will be allowed in for free. A major Australian charity, Open Family Australia, will be the main charity to benefit from the tour”, added Mr Sticca.
Open Family Australia is a charitable organisation that for the past 30 years has provided outreach services to people between 12 and 25 years of age who have become disengaged from society, often through family break-ups or conflict.
Fullback for Celtic, Mark Wilson said “In Australia, there are alot of Scottish and Irish people so there will be a big following for us and the game. We will be in Australia for two and a half weeks so it will be great to get the boys together to get to know each other and our games.
“Australian football is up and coming and improving every year. I am sure the Mariners- game will be a hard test and the players will be physical. We know a couple of Mariners players who have played in Scotland, Daniel McBreen and Micheal McGlinchey, who grew up at Celtic Park”, he added.
Booking for the game can be made at Ticketek.
