On a glorious Saturday afternoon in early October, Newcastle Jets midfielder Mitch Cooper lent a hand and supported Newcastle-s City Serve activities.

City Serve is about serving the local community and asking people to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty for the sake of others.

City Serve activities happen across Newcastle and the Hunter during October, and throughout the month numerous surf clubs, schools, public reserves, community halls and other local amenities will receive a facelift thanks to hundreds of volunteers and sponsors.

Cooper attended the working bee at Nobby-s Surf Club, and helped to serve a BBQ lunch to volunteers, paint the clubhouse and generally do his bit wherever it was needed.

“It is a great initiative and it was a real pleasure to help out today and see the great work being done by all the volunteers,” Cooper said.
