Young gun re-signs for three years

Local youngster Archie Goodwin extends contract with Jets

Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce local young striker Archie Goodwin has re-signed for the next three seasons.

The 17-year-old, who played his juniors with Cooks Hill United, has shone brightly across his first 17 outings for the Jets and was a priority signing for the Club as we continue building for the future.

Goodwin said he was delighted to continue progressing at his hometown Club.

“Being a local boy, I’ve come through the Academy and have always wanted to play in the first team,” Goodwin said.

“To play in front of friends and family, and to make my hometown proud is the most important thing to me.

“I think the Club has a bright future ahead and can do some special things.”

The youngster has already scored four goals with the Club – three taking place at McDonald Jones Stadium – and he’s hoping to grow that number and cement himself in the starting team.

“My goal is to play as many minutes as I can in the next few seasons and help win the league by scoring goals,” he said.

“I want to be the starting number nine and continue to hold my spot by being consistent.
