Being able to meet and play for some of our regional fans is a blessing.
It-s always nice to get out of the familiar and explore somewhere new, and that-s what we have done this week. On Monday we travelled to Bathurst in regional NSW where we are set to meet Adelaide United on Wednesday night.
It-s good to come out to areas within Australia that are not exposed to A-League football. Being able to meet and play for some of our regional fans is a blessing – the boys are really appreciating the local support.
On Tuesday morning we were able to train on the pitch that we will be playing on and it was in great condition. Being able to trial the ground and adapt to the new surroundings sets us in a good position for the match against Adelaide.
The whole team has been in good spirits regardless of our loss over the weekend to Wellington Phoenix. Having the five hour bus ride to bond and training sessions without any distractions has been a pleasant change for both the boys and the coaching staff.
The quick turn around between games has not seemed to have affected the team at all. With captain Jobe Wheelhouse and Francis Jeffers back from injury the boys are looking forward to playing with the whole team again.
I anticipate tonight-s hit out to be a strong contest. Only one point separates us on the ladder board, so Adelaide will be as desperate as us for the three points.
Our job will be to match their efforts and intensity on the field whilst being mindful of our game plan and structure.
Adelaide United has recently had changed their head coach and their loss on the weekend to the Central Coast Mariners was their first since John Kosmina took over. Following this loss, Adelaide will have something to prove and we have to be prepared to meet them head on.
We have a whole team to select from for the first time in weeks. No one is suspended and no one is suffering from any injuries, it is a nice change. Hopefully this will give us a much needed lift and the advantage to steal the victory and gain our first away game win.
