Local Goalkeeper Signs Scholarship Deal

The Newcastle Jets are thrilled to announce that 20-year-old academy graduate Jordan Baylis has signed a scholarship contract with the Club.

A Cardiff City and Edgeworth junior, Jordan moved to the Newcastle Jets Academy in 2020 at under-15s level. Since 2024, he has been a mainstay in the Youth Team, as well as featuring on the bench several times in the Australia Cup and A-League over the last two seasons.

Jordan is delighted to be signing his first professional contract with the Jets,

“I am so excited to have signed my first professional contract with my childhood club. This is such a big moment for me and my family. I am excited for the season ahead and look forward to seeing where it takes us.”

GM of Football Nigel Boogaard said,

“Jordan’s progression is a great example of what can happen when a young player stays patient, works hard and continues to trust the process.”

“As a goalkeeper, development can look a little different, and Jordan has shown real maturity in the way he has approached that. He has been consistent in his work, open to learning, and committed to improving every day.”

“Being involved with the A-League Men’s squad this season has been an important part of his growth, and we feel he is ready to keep taking steps forward in our environment.”

“This is a great moment for Jordan and his family, and another positive reflection of the Academy pathway at the Club.”
