Three former Newcastle Jets Players have been named in World Cup Squads ahead of this years tournament in North America
Tete Yengi (Jet No. 229) and Cameron Devlin were both named in Tony Popovic’s Socceroos squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Tete Yengi, who currently plays for Machida Zelvia in Japan, made nine appearances for the Newcastle Jets during the 2020/21 A-League Men’s season before departing for Ipswich Town. He also played one single game for the Youth Team during the 2021 NPL 4 NSW season, scoring seven goals in a 14-0 rout of Granville Range (previously known as Western Rage). Since departing for Ipswich, Tete has had loan spells at VPS (Finland), Northampton Town (England), and KuPS (Finland), before making a permanent move to Livingston (Scotland), who have since loaned him to his current club.

Cameron Devlin signed for the Newcastle Jets ahead of the 2021/22 A-League season, but quickly departed to Scotland to join Heart of Midlothian FC without a Jets appearance to his name, after the Scottish side triggered his release clause. Since making the move to Scotland, Devlin has recorded over 175 appearances for the Scottish club, helping them to a second place finish in their most recent season. He has also earned four caps for the Socceroos.

Additionally, Lachlan Bayliss (Jet No. 270) has been named in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming World Cup, where he will be coached by former Jets assistant Darren Bazeley. Lachlan spent three seasons with the Club, racking up 71 appearances, as well as winning the 2025 Australia Cup and 2025/26 Premiers Plate. He was named amongst the substitutes in the 2025/26 PFA Team of the Season. The Club recently announced the departure of Lachlan Bayliss at the conclusion of his contract.
