Newcastle Jets once again took to Sydney for another pre-season battle, this time against New South Wales NPL side APIA Leichardt at Valentine Sports Park. The match was a 90-minute match (with traditional 45-minute halves) played behind closed doors and resulted in a solid performance and convincing victory for our new-look Isuzu UTE A-League side. While the team struggled to capitalise on opportunities last time out, they managed to finish off multiple attempts with goals scored across the team.
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce that McDonald Jones Stadium will be able to host 75% capacity for the upcoming F3 Derby on Sunday 21 November 2021 and will return to 100% capacity with some restrictions from December 1. The blockbuster match against Central Coast Mariners will kickstart the Jets’ 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League Season with tickets set to go on sale from Friday 5 November 2021. In line with the current NSW Government Health Orders, all attendees, aged 16 and over, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Today, APL has released the remaining 20 matches for the Isuzu UTE A-League men’s season, which includes an amended home Boxing Day clash, revamped finals series, and New Years Day bout at McDonald Jones Stadium. The newly announced draw sees our originally scheduled Christmas Eve match against Western Sydney Wanderers moved to Boxing Day, while the Jets will also host Melbourne City on New Years Day evening. APL has also announced a new finals series system will take place at the conclusion of the season.
A new look Newcastle Jets took on their first Isuzu UTE A-League opponent of their pre-season today when they travelled to face Sydney FC for a behind-closed-doors trial. The match was played over three 45 minute periods and while the hosts won the friendly by five goals, Manager Arthur Papas was content with large parts of the team’s performance. Sydney took advantage of some costly mistakes, but Papas made mention of how the team also created plenty of opportunities too without full capitalising.
When the W-League (now A-League Women's) first started back in 2007, the Newcastle Jets just had to be involved. To date, 114 women have stepped out in a Jets jersey, however some have done it over, and over, and over again. In preparation for a big 2021/22 season, we we’re acknowledging those women as we take a look back at the five players who have made the most appearances for the Club in the A-League Women's competition.  Clare Wheeler – 67 games
Since the inaugural A-League season back in 2005, almost 200 players have donned the Newcastle Jets jersey. While some have only been here for a short time, others have made lasting impressions and are continuing to create a long-lasting legacy. In preparation for a big 2021/22 season, we decided to take a look back at the five players who have made the most appearances for the Club.  #5. Tarek Elrich – 134 games
Since his arrival to the Club back in 2010, goalkeeper Jack Duncan has played various roles as a Jet between the sticks, but for one of the first times in his career, he’s now the veteran leading and mentoring a very young group. Alongside youngsters Noah James and Michael Weier, Duncan is competing each day at training knowing that his two fellow glovemen are biting at the bit to become the #1 keeper. The competition is healthy though as all three are pushing one another forward with the help of goalkeeper coach Chris Bowling.
