Newcastle Jets suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Western United on Monday evening and although he is disappointed with the result, Coach Craig Deans warns there is no time to dwell on it.
Instead, they must pick themselves up for their clash with league leaders Melbourne City on Thursday night.
“We’ve got another game in 3 days’ time so there’s no time to sulk about the result, we need to look forward and focus on the next game,” Deans said.
The Jets went behind to an early own goal and were forced to chase the game.
Deans admitted his team didn’t do enough in the final third to rescue the match and all hope of a Jets fightback was buried when Dylan Pierias converted for Western’s second.

“I think we hung in there and we had a little bit going our away in the first 15 minutes or so of the second half but then obviously the goal kills the game to a degree,” Deans said.
“We probably didn’t create enough opportunities, didn’t get the ball into enough good areas to give ourselves a chance to win the game.”
With a win against Melbourne City in the reverse fixture, Deans sees no reason why the Jets can’t do the same come Thursday night and steal all three points.
“We got a result in the home game against them quite a while back now so we can look back to that and know we can match it with the big boys, it’s just a matter of being good enough on the day,” Deans said.
Both Jason Hoffman and Johnny Koutroumbis featured off the bench in last night’s clash and could be in the box seat to start on Thursday, however captain Nigel Boogaard still looks unlikely to start.
“It will be a risk to start him he hasn’t played a game in four or five weeks or longer, he’s only had two or three full training sessions,” Deans said.
