Australian under 20’s international Joshua Brillante has joined the Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets on a two-year deal.
The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Australian under 20-s international Joshua Brillante on a two-year deal.
Brillante joins the Jets having made 14 appearances for Gold Coast United during the past two A-League seasons.
The 19-year-old shone at National Youth League level for the Gold Coast and won the the club’s Youth Star of the Future award in 2009/10.
He was called up to make his debut for the senior team against North Queensland Fury on December 3, 2010.
Brillante is yet another member of the Jets- squad who has represented Australia at underage level in the past 12 months.
He was a member of the Young Socceroos team that went through the AFC under 19-s Championship qualification tournament undefeated in November last year.
He joins the likes of Scott Neville, Craig Goodwin, Adam Taggart, James Brown and Mark Birighitti as exciting young recruits with international experience.
Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said he was thrilled with the newest addition to Newcastle-s playing roster.
“Josh is a member of the under 20-s national team and has proven himself at A-League level with the Gold Coast last season,” van Egmond said.
“He can play as a right-back or central midfielder and has a great attitude. Again, he is definitely one for the future.”
