Joe Shaughnessy Extends Contract with the Jets

The Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce that Joe Shaughnessy has extended his contract with the Newcastle Jets until the end of the 2026/27 season.

The 33-year-old Shaughnessy signed for the Jets ahead of the 2025/26 season from Dundee F.C in Scotland. He went on to play 22 games for the Jets, scoring his only goal against the Wanderers in Round 13 of the A-League. Shaughnessy’s leadership and stability at the back played a key role in helping the Club lift their first ever Premier’s Plate.

Shaughnessy is thrilled to remain in Newcastle,

“I’m very excited to have signed on for another season at the Jets. I loved my first year here and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve more success this season. I’m also excited to experience Asian Champions league football and to help the team compete there as well.”
