The reigning Australia Cup Champions, the Newcastle Jets, have drawn NPL Victoria powerhouse Preston Lions in the Australia Cup.
Preston currently sit eight in the NPL Victoria on 23 points from 16 games, although they have faced a six-point deduction. Preston also competed in the inaugural Australian Championship last year.
Preston’s squad includes some familiar names, including shot-stopper Ryan Scott. The now 30-year-old played 51 games for the Newcastle Jets in all comps between 2023 and 2025. Full-back Stefan Nigro has racked up over 100 A-League games throughout his time with Melbourne Victory, Brisbane Roar and the Central Coast Mariners.

Centre-back Ayden Brice hails from Newcastle, having come through at Edgeworth Eagles before heading South at 21 to link up with Melbourne Knights, before moving to Avondale where he started in last season’s semi-final against the Jets.
Match details will be confirmed in the coming days.
