A stunning strike from Charlotte Lancaster in injury time has sealed another famous last-minute 2-1 win against Sydney FC in the Ninja A-League.
After an even start to the contest the home side took the lead when Amelia Casser spotted Jets goalkeeper Anna Leat off her line and lobbed it over the New Zealand international to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute.
Stephen Hoyle’s side soon found themselves level when Melina Ayres found time in the box to shoot past Sydney FC goalkeeper Heather Hinz in the 29th minute.
As the match headed into the second half, the Jets had two big chances through Lauren Allan and Haley Johnson, however, Sydney FC goalkeeper Heather Hinz was up to the task to thwart the pair.
Sydney FC were inches away from a penalty after Jets midfielder India Breier brought down Riley Tanner just outside the 18-yard box. Hana Lowry sent the resulting set-piece over the crossbar.
As the match reached injury time, Lancaster collected the ball inside her own half, driving towards the Sydney FC goal before unleashing a stunning strike which sealed all three points for Stephen Hoyle’s side.
The win moves the Jets up to 7th in the Ninja A-League ladder. The team next face Melbourne City on Friday 16th January at AAMI Park. Kick-off is at 4.50 pm AEDT.
