The Newcastle Jets have been defeated by Perth Glory 1-0 in the Ninja A-League on Saturday night, with Perth’s Isobel Dalton scoring the goal.
The home side found the back of the net early on when Isobel Dalton capitalised on a turnover by the Jets.
The Newcastle Jets settled into the contest and had their first chance of the game when Sophie Hoban had her shot saved by Glory goalkeeper Teresa Morrissey in the 22nd minute.
Hoban combined with striker Melina Ayres in the 37th minute to test Morrissey even further, the Glory goalkeeper diving to her left to save the shot as the Jets headed into the halftime break trailing the Glory.
Stephen Hoyle’s side started the second half with intent as Josie Allan hit a shot from inside the box to force Morrissey into another smart save.
PAs both sides battled the heat, the Glory had the best chance towards the back end of the half when midfielder Emma Tovar was denied by Jets goalkeeper Anna Leat.
The Jets pushed on but couldn’t find an equaliser in the Western Australian heat.
Stephen Hoyle’s side are next in action when they take on the Central Coast Mariners at No.2 Sportsground on Saturday, January 10 at 5 pm.
