Jason Hoffman reached a new milestone by playing 197 A-League games for the Newcastle Jets, the most in the club’s history.
Hoffman came off the bench in Sunday’s game against Macarthur in the 84th minute to secure his place in Jets history, overtaking Ben Kantarovski who sits on 196 games for the Jets.
The born and bred Novocastrian has grown up through the Jets system and has recognised his personal as well as professional growth throughout his playing career.
“I am a Newcastle boy, I was born and raised in Newcastle, I went through the local system and for me to perform at the professional level for so long, is something I will look back on and be proud of,” said Hoffman.
Hoffman acknowledged that his milestone is a great achievement, however, focusing on getting better results as a team is a priority at the moment.
“In the here and now you don’t get too caught up in it, I focus on how much further I can stretch that and contribute at a level that can bring success and value to the football club,” he said.
Hoffman’s milestone was slightly overlooked by the team’s loss against Macarthur, which they will look to rectify in this week’s match against Western United.
Newcastle are going into the match with the positives they have taken away from their previous games.
“We’re a good football team, we’ve dominated many games, but we just haven’t capitalised when we’re on top,”
“When you look at most of the matches, we do dominate the ball and we do dominate for large periods of games. What we do lack is that killer punch in probably both boxes at the moment,” said Hoffman.
