Will Dobson

Born in Belmont, Will Dobson spent several years in the Weston Bears and Newcastle Jets Youth systems. Having debuted for the Youth Team in 2023 as a 15 year old, he made the step up to become a regular starter, helping the team to an unbeaten 2024 campaign in the FNSW League Two competition. He was then rewarded with a two-year scholarship deal at age 16 ahead of the 2024/25 A-League season. Will is adept at playing in the midfield, or on the wing.

2024/25 Season:

Dobson was given his debut in round one against Melbourne City, playing the final two minutes off of the bench in a 0-1 loss. For the majority of the season, Dobson was in and out of the squad, with his minutes largely limited when he did play. He played 45 minutes in a 1-3 loss to Western United on round 15, impressing Head Coach Robert Stanton, who rewarded him with his first ever start the following game, in a 2-2 draw against Perth Glory. Will made his first assist in a 2-6 loss to Western United in round 23.

2025/26 Season:

Will played a key role in the successful 2025 Australia Cup campaign. He came off of the bench in the first four rounds, scoring his first professional goal in the quarter-finals against Macarthur, before starting in the final. Dobson started in the second game of the A-League campaign, registering an assist in a 5-2 win over Melbourne Victory. He scored his first A-League goal in round 6 in a 1-2 win over Auckland, where he also assisted the other goal. Dobson earned his first youth international call-up to the Young Socceroos for the March international break, playing twice and scoring once against China.
