There were many names that shone over the weekend from our Youth and Academy teams and worthy of inclusion in our Young Stars of the Week.
Here are some notable names who deserve a special mention from the weekend that was:
ARCHIE GOODWIN
First up is the young man who featured at the backend of last season in the A-League, even scoring a goal in our final game against Melbourne City.
He’s yet to feature in the top side this season as he returns from injury recovery, but has started well in the youth division and managed to find the back of the net four times on Saturday night in our 8-nil victory over Fraser Park.
This is in addition to the goal he scored the previous week, taking his overall tally to five from his first two matches.
JAKE GOODWIN
Keeping it in the family, and Archie’s younger brother Jake has also shone brightly from the opening games in the 15s.
Over the weekend, our 15s managed to secure a six goal win over Bonnyrigg White Eagles with three goals coming thanks to young Goodwin.
After playing four games, Goodwin has managed 10 goals, and has played a major part in his side taking top spot in their competition scoring almost half of the team’s 22 goals.
KAI THOMPSON
A young forward playing in the 13s, Kai Thompson has started the season in incredible goal scoring fashion.
His team again pulled out a tremendous victory, winning 6-1 on Sunday as they continue to challenge for top spot, and Thompson led the way with two goals.
His record is outstanding so far this season having scored 15 goals in four games and will be a stat to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
16S DEFENCE
While not only player in particular, a special mention needs to be made for the defensive efforts of our 16s team as they enjoyed another clean sheet on the weekend in their 3-0 win.
That now marks their fifth consecutive clean sheet, as they have started the season with 11 goals scored, and zero conceded.
