The Foxtel Y-League 2018/19 draw has been released, and the next generation of Newcastle Jets can now pencil in their summer plans.

Newcastle will open their campaign on Sunday 11 November, home at No.2 Sportsground to Sydney FC.
LESSONS: What we learnt from Round 1 in Wellington
PARTNER: University of Newcastle on board for 2018/19
In all, the ten-round competition will see each team play each other twice, with two byes per team.
The winners of Conference A and Conference B will play one another in the Foxtel Y-League Grand Final, pencilled in for the weekend of the 2nd of February.
Last season, the Jets finished third in the five-team division and were just two wins off the pace in an extremely competitive league.
Labinot Haliti and Lawrie McKinna will take charge of the Newcastle Jets Foxtel Y-League team once again as they look to build on last year’s campaign.
Youth Team Coach, Labinot Haliti said the youngsters are in good nick ahead of the season.
“We’re really looking forward to it, I think it’s an exciting competition and a good chance for the boys to play against the best players of their age group,” Haliti said.
“I think the trips to Asia that we had [China for the Weifang Cup, and Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Sevens] were really good for us, we’ve got a really young squad but we’ve been together for over nine months now.
“The boys are starting to get know each other better, and we’re getting to know them better too… we know exactly how they are, and we got to know the Y-League last year so we feel very prepared this time around.
“It’s an exciting competition, it’s really short but we’re really looking forward to it. We had a decent season in the NPL Northern NSW too, so this is another stepping-stone.
“For the likes of Angus Thurgate, Pat Langlois to go through, it should help motivate the Y-League boys. With the Academy now within the Club, the connections between the Academy and the First Team are closer and the pathways are clearer to make that step up.”
More information about the exact makeup of the Foxtel Y-League squad will be released in the lead-up to our season opener.
