The Hunter region will be treated to a feast of sport across three different codes over the next eight days.

The Newcastle Jets open their 2011/12 A-League campaign on Saturday 8 October, the Australian Diamonds play England in a Netball Test Match on Sunday October 9 and a week later Australia takes on New Zealand in the Rugby League Test.

“The Hunter Sports Group invested in the Netball and Rugby League Test to put Newcastle and the Hunter front of mind as a tourist destination,” Hunter Sports Group CEO Troy Palmer said.

“We also hope that the two international events, as well as the opening game of the Hyundai A-League season, will instigate great pride for all that live in our region.

“The Hunter Sports Group worked closely with Destination NSW to secure and promote these exciting international sporting events in the region,” he said.

Member for Newcastle, Tim Owen said that this is a great opportunity for all partnerships to come together and showcase our quality sporting venues, and highlight the beautiful Hunter Region.

The Newcastle Jets kick it all off when they play Melbourne Heart at Ausgrid Stadium on Saturday 8 October. Gates open at 3pm for the 4.30pm start. The membership tally is at approximately 9,000, which means there are still great tickets available to attend this game.

The Netball Test between Australia and England on Sunday October 9 will be played in front of a full house, after tickets sold out to this event.

On Sunday October 16, Australia host New Zealand at Ausgrid Stadium for a one-off match ahead of the Four Nations Tournament in the UK later this month. A crowd of over 30,000 is expected at the match with tickets still available.

All ticketing for these events are through PROticket.
