Three experienced heads are back in the frame but there’s still every chance youth could steal the show once again this Saturday afternoon.
Ernie Merrick has named his 18-man squad for the Round 27 clash with Sydney FC, who will be looking to finish the season strong.
Back in the mix for a spot in the gameday squad is Nigel Boogaard, Matt Ridenton, and Ronald Vargas.
NPL: Olympic too strong at Hamilton
The trio remained in Newcastle last weekend in favour of youth last weekend, but there’s every chance that the young guns may still get the nod.
Angus Thurgate was impressive in just his second ever Hyundai A-League start, while Pat Langlois turned heads with a solid debut from the bench.
They’ve both remained in the squad, and are every chance of seeing minutes on home soil this weekend.
Also hopeful of retaining his starting spot in the squad will be Joey Champness, who bagged his first ever Hyundai A-League double in an impressive performance up in Brisbane last Saturday.
