Sophie Hoban departs to pursue European opportunity

The Newcastle Jets can confirm that midfielder Sophie Hoban has departed the Club to pursue an opportunity with a European Club competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Hoban joined the Jets in 2023 and has made a total of 60 appearances for the Club, scoring seven goals. Hoban also won the Club’s player of the season award twice, first in 2024/25 and again in 2025/26.

Newcastle Jets Head Coach Stephen Hoyle said.

“We are obviously sad to see Sophie leave the Club however this is a fantastic opportunity for her career and we are delighted for her. I have loved working with Sophie and I look forward to keeping tabs on her journey moving forward.”
