Newcastle Jets will seek to earn their third straight win over Wellington Phoenix when the two teams clash at Hunter Stadium in Hyundai A-League 2015/16 round 20 this Saturday 20 February.
The Jets and Phoenix have met twice so far this campaign, with Scott Miller’s men emerging victorious on both occasions.
In round 1 Milos Trifunovic scored the winner as Newcastle silenced this ‘Nix in the land of the long white cloud 2-1. In round 15 Trifunovic and Ryan Kitto were among the goalscorers as the Jets soared to a 3-1 win over Ernie Merrick’s men.
However while the Jets’ form in the past few weeks has been sound, Wellington showed in Hyundai A-League round 19 that they will be no easy beats. Indeed, last round Phoenix romped to a 5-2 away win over the high-flying Western Sydney Wanderers, with forward Blake Powell netting a stunning four times in the process.
With both teams eager to continue chasing down the Hyundai A-League’s top six, the stage is set for a classic encounter between the Jets and Phoenix at Hunter Stadium.
