Newcastle Jets suffered a 2-0 defeat to Hyundai A-League Premiers Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium on Saturday evening.
Goals from Milos Ninkovic and Alex Brosque did the damage for the Sky Blues in front of 15,787 supporters.
The teams were locked at 0-0 at the half time break, though the Jets could have taken the lead shortly before in the interval – Andrew Nabbout missed a penalty after Andrew Hoole had been brought down in the area.
