The Newcastle Jets can today advise that midfielder, Devante Clut and the club have agreed to the mutual termination of the remainder of his contract, effective immediately.
Clut arrived at the club in 2016 and made 24 appearances in the Hyundai A-League during his time in Newcastle.
Originally signed by Scott Miller, Clut was given his Jets debut by Mark Jones against Adelaide United in 2016.
He was the 142nd player capped for the Newcastle Jets in Hyundai A-League.
Jets’ boss, Ernie Merrick said it had been a pleasure working with Clut this season.
“Devante has been excellent to work with this season, he’s a hard worker and has been a great presence around the group,” said Merrick.
“It’s been difficult for him to get game time in the first team, given the strength of our squad this season and his decision to search for playing time elsewhere is one that I support.
“I wish him all the best with the next chapter in his career.”
It is expected that Clut will take up an opportunity elsewhere and the Jets would like to thank him for his service to the club and wish him all the best with his future endeavours.
Clut wanted to thank his teammates and the Newcastle community for their support during his time in the Hunter.
“I’ve learnt a lot from the many players I’ve had the chance to play with, helping me to grow as a footballer and as a person,” said Clut.
“It’s been an amazing place to call home and it’s been an honour to represent the club, the city and the fans.
“The club has been fantastic throughout this process and have done the very best to help me with the next step in my career, and I am extremely appreciative of that.
“I wish the players, staff and fans all the best for the rest of the season,”
