Newcastle Jets’ Danish dynamo Morten Nordstrand is set to make his second home appearance for the club this Saturday when Scott Miller’s men host Ernie Merrick’s Wellington Phoenix at Hunter Stadium.

Nordstrand, who has featured impressively off the bench for the Jets in each of the club’s last three matches, spoke to local press following training at Ray Watt Oval at the University of Newcastle on Monday.

The former FC Copenhagen star says the club’s full focus is on this weekend’s fixture against the ‘Nix, who he described as “impressive” having viewed their 5-2 win over Western Sydney Wanderers on FOX SPORTS at the weekend.

“We have a game this Saturday and of course it is an important one,” Nordstrand said. “We have to take one game at a time and win the next one, because it’s the most important.”

“I saw it [Wellington’s win over Wanderers] on the TV.”

“They [Wellington] were impressive, really clinical in front of the goal and they put all their chances away.”

“We have to look out for their counter-attacks because they were dangerous.”

The last time the Jets played at Hunter Stadium Nordstrand came off the bench to provide a stunning assist for forward Milos Trifunovic as Newcastle defeated Melbourne City 2-1.

Last Friday against Brisbane Roar the dangerous Dane came on at half time as the Jets held John Aloisi’s high-flying side to a 2-2 draw at Suncorp Stadium.

Nordstrand says he is continuing to learn about the Hyundai A-League as he watches more matches and plays more minutes.

“I have been watching some games and it’s a good level,” Nordstrand added. “I am getting to know the league better.”

“I think we started very well [against Brisbane] and we had some good spells on the ball.”

“They are a good team and they played well, especially in the second half.”

“But I think we fought well and we deserved at least one point,” he said.

Newcastle Jets kick-off against Wellington Phoenix at 5:15pm this Saturday.
