Football Federation Australia (FFA) has made two changes to the Westfield W-League 2015/16 draw to create two extra double headers with Hyundai A-League matches over the final two rounds of the regular season.
Sydney FC’s round 13 Westfield W-League clash with Newcastle Jets will now be played prior to the Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets Hyundai A-League match on Saturday 9 January at ANZ Stadium.
The following week will see the Newcastle Jets and Brisbane Roar Westfield W-League match moved to Hunter Stadium before the Newcastle Jets and Wellington Phoenix Hyundai A-League match on Sunday 17 January.
Both rescheduled Westfield W-League matches will kick off at 2pm and will be broadcast LIVE by FOX Sports and ABC TV.
The draw changes reflect the outstanding success of the Hyundai A-League/Westfield W-League double headers throughout the 2015/16 season, which has given elite women’s football increased exposure both in attendance and broadcast.
“The double headers have been a tremendous initiative this year and we are pleased to be able to schedule two more over the final two rounds of the season,” said Head of the Hyundai A-League Damien de Bohun.
“It has given women’s football a well-deserved boost through increased attendance and broadcast exposure and it has also given fans attending Hyundai A-League matches extra value for money.
“I’d like to thank the clubs, players, broadcast partners and venues for working with us to lock in these two double headers,” de Bohun concluded.
