The Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce the signing of New Zealand international goalkeeper Anna Leat for the 2025/26 A-League season.
24-year-old Leat joins the Club after playing abroad in New Zealand with Eastern Suburbs as well as Hibiscus Coast A.F.C. Leat has also played in England in the Women’s Super League with West Ham United and Aston Villa.
Leat has made 22 appearances for the New Zealand Women’s National team and was a member of their 2023 FIFA World Cup squad. The goalkeeper has also represented New Zealand at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games.
Leat is eager to hit the ground running.
“I’m stoked to be joining the Newcastle Jets! Playing in the A-League has always been a dream of mine and I can’t wait to experience this league and the Newcastle culture. I’m ready to get started and work with Stephen and the team.”
Newcastle Jets Head Coach Stephen Hoyle said.
“I’m excited to work with Anna day in, day out. I’ve seen her ability firsthand and have followed her journey closely ever since she played a pivotal role in New Zealand’s U17s Bronze medal run at the 2018 Women’s U17 World Cup. She’s still only 24 but brings a wealth of experience from her time in the Barclays Women’s Super League. I can’t wait to see her flourish for the Jets.”
