The Newcastle Jets are delighted to announce the signing of Socceroo Aleksandar Šušnjar on a two-year deal.
28-year-old Šušnjar joins the Club from Perth Glory where he spent the 2023/24 A-League season, making 21 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals. Šušnjar who plays as a central defender also has a Socceroos cap to his name, making his debut in 2018 against Norway in Oslo.
Šušnjar also has plenty of experience both domestically and abroad, having also played in the A-League with Macarthur FC while having stints in Lithuania, Romania, Czechia, Slovakia and South Korea.
Šušnjar is determined to hit the ground running in Newcastle and make an instant impact.
“I can’t wait to get into Newcastle and start training. I’m really looking forward to making my mark on this squad and linking up with Rob Stanton and the rest of his coaching staff. This is an exciting team we have. It’s a young squad and I’m hoping to add some experience at the back and achieve something big with this Club for the upcoming season.”
Newcastle Jets Coach Rob Stanton said.
“Aleksander brings us not only experience but a huge amount of quality at the back. He has played in some tough competitions overseas and his best football is still ahead of him. He will bring a presence to our defence which I believe we need and I know the Newcastle fans and community will embrace him.”
