The Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce a new leadership structure that will see trio Matthew Jurman, Brandon O’Neill, and Carl Jenkinson as Co-Captains for the 2022/23 A-League season.
Former Socceroo Matthew Jurman captained the Jets during the 2021/22 season and will continue in the role in conjunction with Brandon O’Neill and Carl Jenkinson for the upcoming campaign.
Co-captain O’Neill joins the Club this season having previously captained Perth Glory and having represented the Socceroos.
Co-captain Jenkinson has amassed over 80 matches in the English Premier League at Arsenal and West Ham.
Newcastle Jets Manager Arthur Papas said the trio were identified over the course of pre-season, displaying exceptional leadership qualities.
“We’ve gone through a very thorough process over the course of pre-season where the players and staff have combined to identify the ideal leadership structure, values and beliefs that align to our vision as a team and club and put in place a model which supports this system. Our co-captains are there to support each other and the team as we move forward together.”
