MICHAEL BRIDGES ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT

The Newcastle Jets have today announced the retirement of current Newcastle Jets Captain and former English Premier League Striker, Michael Bridges.

The Newcastle Jets have today announced the retirement of current Newcastle Jets Captain and former English Premier League Striker, Michael Bridges.

Bridges who has played over 200 games in the English Premier League, this afternoon told his Newcastle Jets teammates of his decision to retire.

“After great consideration it was a difficult to decision to make,” said Bridges.

“However the opportunity to enter the next phase of my life is one that is too exciting not to take now whilst it is being offered”

The current Newcastle Jets Captain who is immensely popular with his peers and club management will not be lost to the Newcastle Jets after accepting a position with the club, as International Football & Business Development Manager.

“The opportunity to help develop the next group of Footballers for the Jets and to join the Tinkler Sports Group is really appealing,” concluded Bridges.

Newcastle Jets Advisory Board Chairman, Mr. Ray Baartz heralded Bridges for his standing at the Newcastle Jets and for his continued commitment to the club by accepting the International Football & Business Development Manager-s position.

“Michael is just a class act,” said Baartz

“He his hugely respected by all at the Newcastle Jets and to have Michael to continue with the Club in an off-field role not only is a great coup by the club, but speaks volumes for the direction the club is heading in,” concluded Baartz.

Bridges will share his time with the Jets Commercial team and involving his passion and knowledge for the game by working with the soon to be established Jets Academy to develop and enhance the junior talent in the region.
