Jets end Liberty A-League season with loss

Our injury-riddled Jets took to Brisbane on Monday night to face the Roar for the second time in four days, but unfortunately the result was the same as the previous match.

Brisbane got off to a hot start scoring two early on and putting our Jets on the back foot immediately. We then struggled to get back into it, and the Roar were able to score two more in the first half to create a huge mountain to climb in the second.

While we had a our chances in the second half – the best of those coming through Elizabeth Eddy – no goals were found as the score stayed the same from half-time.

We end our season locked in eighth place on the ladder with ten points after grabbing two wins and four draws from the campaign.

80′ Eddy goes close to scoring inside the box, but her shot is wide.

74′ Lara Gooch enters the pitch for the first time tonight.

69′ Harding lays Fenton through with a chance, and it’s great contact! But just over the bar.

67′ A pass from the corner comes to Brewer who tries her luck from range. It swirls through the box but is cleared by a defender.

63′ A mistake from the keeper gives Eddy half a chance, but she unfortunately skies her shot.

49′ Brisbane look to add more and are continuing to threaten, but our defence is fighting back for now.

45′ Back underway and Allan is onto the field replacing Johnson.

41′ Gordon attempts a shot from distance, and it just goes over the bar!

39′ GOAL! BRI 4-0 NEW Connors grabs another.

38′ We’ve begun to take a bit more control of possession as we look for a way back into the game.

29′ GOAL! BRI 3-0 NEW Roar score again this time through Connors.

27′ Roar look dangerous with a long cross coming at the back post. But thankfully, no one is there to put it away.

24′ Brodigan goes down in the box. Despite some faint calls for a penalty, the referee waves it away.

20′ The corner kick floats out of the box and lands for Davis who tries her luck from outside the box, but it’s blocked.

20′ Eddy does well down the outside and takes the ball toward the by-line as she looks for a cross. It’s deflected for a corner.

19′ A strike from distance is again launched at Coelho. This time she holds onto it cleanly.

16′ Eddy puts it in the back of the net after a nice cross, but instead the offside flag is raised and our goal is disallowed.

13′ GOAL! BRI 2-0 NEW Crummer scores to double the lead.

11′ A barrage of shots from Brisbane tests Coelho in goal. But she makes two back-to-back saves to keep us within one.

7′ Harding attempts to take on a defender down the outside. She works the chance for a cross, but it’s intercepted in the box.

4′ GOAL! BRI 1-0 NEW Gorry puts the hosts up early on with a long-range effort.

1′ Roar start off on the offensive and launch a shot at Coelho, however it’s a shot which she is up for.
