The Newcastle Jets have been defeated 2-0 by Macarthur FC in Campbelltown.
The Jets started the match brightly as Jordan Elsey was given the first real chance of the match when his header was saved by Macarthur FC goalkeeper Filip Kurto.
The Jets continued to push and were unlucky to not take the lead when Angus Thurgate launched a shot that ricocheted off the post and across Macarthur’s goal.
Against the run of play, the hosts took the lead when Al Hassan Toure got the better of Dane Ingham in the box to poke the ball past Jack Duncan and give Macarthur a 1-0 lead.
Only a minute later the Jets were awarded a penalty when Kurto fouled Jaushua Sotirio inside the box. Beka Mikeltadze stepped up to convert however the Georgian striker’s spot-kick was wide.
The Jets started the second half brightly with Mikeltadze and Sotirio combining well upfront.
The Jets controlled much of the football as they looked to grab a response and Macarthur had a rare chance when a long ball almost found Daniel Arzani however, Jets goalkeeper Jack Duncan came out of his box to clear.
Once again the home side found another goal against the run of play when Ulises Dávila tucked away a loose ball after Jack Duncan initially kept Macarthur out from scoring the first time.
Newcastle continued to push for a goal back however the Bulls held firm to take the three points.
The Jets find themselves away next weekend in Ballarat when they take on Western United.
