The Newcastle Jets W-League squad continues to strengthen with German defender Ariane Hingst the most recent member to join the Club on a one-year contract.
Hingst is a German international and W-League Head Coach Clayton Zane is looking forward to the 32-year old joining his squad, pending a Visa being granted.
“We are delighted to have obtained Ariane’s services for the coming W-League season,” Zane said.
“She comes with a wealth of experience at international level having won two World Cups, four European Championships and winning 3 bronze medals at the Olympic games.
“She will provide leadership on and off the park and will help strengthen our team defensively.
“With such a young squad, containing six ‘Young Matildas’, Ariane will help our players understand the requirements to become better professionals.
“All parties are aware that her signing is fully dependent on a Visa which we are working hard to obtain.”
Hingst will join her new teammates later this week to commence training ahead of the Jets W-League first game on Saturday October 29 at Adamstown Oval.
