Jets van Egmond & McGuinness claim #WLeagueAwards

Matildas star Emily van Egmond and former Jets Westfield W-League Head Coach (now PS4 NPL Head Coach) Peter McGuinness received the two top Westfield W-League gongs at Monday’s end of season ceremony in Sydney.

Van Egmond – who is destined to be named in Australia’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada – was feted with the Westfield W-League Player of the Year Award, also known as the Julie Dolan Medal, at the event held at the contemporary Carriageworks.

Van Egmond’s competition-wide recognition is in addition to the club honours she received in late April when she was named Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League Player of the Year.

McGuinness was voted by his coaching peers as the Westfield W-League’s Coach of the Year. Despite finishing outside the finals series on 17 points, the marked improvement and competiveness of the lady Jets throughout last campaign, and McGuinness contribution to their side’s form didn’t go unnoticed.

McGuinness is currently in charge of the club’s Northern NSW PS4 National Premier League team which has won two of four games to commence its season.
