Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Lucy Johnson for the 2021/22 W-League season.
The talented midfielder comes to Newcastle from South Melbourne FC and is ready to take the next step in her career as she joins the W-League ranks for the first time.
“I am looking forward to the W-League environment, surrounded by quality players and coaches to compliment my game,” Johnson said.
“I am excited for the new challenges that come with playing at a higher level”.
Johnson is grateful for the opportunity given to her by Coach Ash Wilson and is determined to help move the club in the right direction.
“I want to grow and further develop as a player by training and playing hard. I am looking forward to working towards and contributing to a successful year for the Jets” Johnson said.
The 22-year-old is a hard-working midfielder with an eye for goal and is excited by the prospect of bringing her skill and technical ability to the Jets squad.
“I understand that the Newcastle Jets are the heart of a proud and strong football community, and I can’t wait to show what I can bring to the Jets and the W-League,” Johnson said.
In A-League transfer news, New-Zealand International, Joey Champness has departed the club, after signing for newly-promoted Turkish outfit, Giresunspor.
We can also confirm that Cameron Devlin has also exercised a clause in his contract that has allowed him to sign for Scottish side Hearts of Midlothian.
The Newcastle Jets would like to wish both players the best of luck in their career.
