The Newcastle Jets will take on Wellington Phoenix in a pre-season trial match at Rockwell Automation Park on August 24.
The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets will take on Wellington Phoenix in a pre-season trial match at Rockwell Automation Park in Weston on Saturday, August 24th.
The fixture, which will kick-off at 4.30pm, will be the Jets- first trial match of the pre-season against A-League opposition.
The two sides met at the same venue last pre-season, with the Jets notching a 3-1 win over the Phoenix in an eventful contest.
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby said he expects the match to provide the Jets with their toughest test of the pre-season so far.
“The match against Wellington will be another important fixture in our pre-season calendar,” Middleby said.
“It will be our first trial match against A-League opposition so it will be a good chance to see where we-re at as a team and how our squad is progressing.”
Middleby also thanked Weston Bears FC for hosting the match at their home ground.
“It-s a great chance for our Members and supporters in that part of the Hunter region to watch a trial match between two A-League teams and we-re looking forward to the match,” Middleby said.
The Newcastle Jets have also confirmed they will play NSW NPL 1 side Sydney Olympic in a pre-season trial match at Belmore Sports Ground on Wednesday, September 11.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 6.30pm.
